Jenny Urbanek is contemporary artist and educator in Milwaukee Wisconsin. She believes to make art is to participate in the ongoing creation of the world. In her work she reclaims and reimagines our deep shared past; looking backward into order to move forward. Her primary mediums are photography, painting, ceramics, and humans (through art education and yoga instruction).
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from UW-Milwaukee and Master of Arts degree in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been shown nationwide including, “Fractures and Dislocations: Excavating Histories” at the International Surgical Science Museum in Chicago and, “Deities: Embodying the Fragmented”, which she curated and exhibited at Bay View Gallery Night. She works as an art teacher full-time and a yoga teacher part-time in Bay View, Milwaukee.
